RIPA is committed to promoting care pathways for common illnesses.  In our practitioner profiles we are using exceptions per episode to measure physician compliance with pathways.  By "exceptions" we mean services or medications that diverge from the recommended pathway.  Since no pathway can apply to 100% of situations, we expect that there will always be some exceptions.
