In order to appropriately safeguard sensitive information and to protect the financial and strategic interests of RIPA, the Board of Directors adopted the following Conflict of Interest Policy:
While it is common for a provider to be active in the governance structure of multiple IPAs, RIPA must take care that those providers with access to sensitive information are not in positions at competing IPAs or HMOs where knowledge of that information could be used inappropriately. Therefore, the following potential conflicts of interest are not permitted:
- Provider serving on Boards of both RIPA and a competing IPA or HMO.
- Provider serving on RIPA Board and a finance, fee, or marketing committee of a competing IPA or HMO.
- Provider serving on Board of a competing IPA or HMO and a finance, fee, or marketing committee of RIPA.
- Provider serving on a finance, fee, or marketing committee of both RIPA and a competing IPA or HMO.
- Provider serving as chairperson of similar committees of RIPA and a competing IPA or HMO.
If you have any questions about the policy, please call Mark Cronin, vice president, provider relations at 242-0610.
